The Motor Build-Up

Well Project Stroker has finally come about and slight progress has been made. The cost of this project has kept the forward progress at a minimum, but things are starting to look a lot better! The motor is a 331 cubic inch SCAT crank with SCAT I-beam rods and Probe pistons all being held in check with a Canton girdle. The heads are a set of Trick Flow that have been completely ported and will hopefully flow like there is no tomorrow. There is a Super Vic intake sitting on top with a Holley 750 dp carburetor with a Pro Form main body.

We are hoping the car will dip into the 11's with a little bit of nitrous. The car already is wearing an 8 point cage and has been completely gutted. We are hoping to come in under 2950 with "skinny guy" driving her! Other than that we are just going to have fun looking I mean driving this car!

Here is the motor getting ready to be mated with the PA equipped C4. So far everything has been pretty straightforward!
Here is a shot of the PA tranny that Thomas went through for me! Thanks again Asemaster!
Motor and tranny finally in. Had some issues with the UPR k-member that Scott said was typical. I on the other hand had more extreme words than typical! Oh and where are the headers? DOH!
Ok so the motor and tranny had to come back out. But overall the headers weren't that bad to install. Driver side dropped right in passenger side only had 1 bloody knuckle.
Another angle of the headers completely installed. Total time was just under 2 hours. And that included pulling the motor and tranny back out. Next comes the fuel system install!
Update 11/10/05:
Started on the fuel system.
More shots of the engine bay with the fuel system started
A third and final shot of the engine bay with the fuel plumbing started.
Update 12/06/05:

Got some more of the motor put on, planning on getting to the shifter next weekend!

Here is a shot of the fuel regulators. The main regulator is ready to go, the nitrous regulator has a little to go.
A shot of the fuel pump and both filters...
A shot of the motor from the drivers side. Need to get the oil pressure gauge hooked up now that I look at it.
UPDATE 12/27/05: Got some of the misc. stuff on. Other than plug wires, motor is about ready to turn over. Right now we are scheduled for January 7th, 2005.
Got the fuel system done except for the nitrous side. Will be dealing with that once the car is fired and running. Also you can see the oil gauge we used to prime the motor.
Got the throttle cable bracket installed and other than the breather for the driver side, the top of the motor looks complete. Well need the belt for the front.
UPDATE 12/31/05: Got the nitrous fuel regulator in and plumbed along with the fuel gauge. Still need to address throttle linkage issue, and get the line lock hooked in.
Got the breathers put on and the lines for the mechanical gauges ran. Will try to get the water temp. gauge hooked up monday
Still missing distributor wires, but they should be here Monday. Put the belt on and hook the battery up, can't be that easy can it?
Here are some pictures as of 5/06/06. Fuel is plumbed and nitrous is wired in
A shot of the nitrous and purge solenoids mounted on the firewall.
A look back at the throttle bracket and the WOT nitrous switch located on the bottom of the bracket. The nitrous kit is a Compucar Stage 2 kit good up to 275 hp.
A shot of the two fuel regulators. One used for the motor and the second plumbed for the nitrous.
A shot over the passenger side of the motor. As you can see we used a lot of stainless lines and a dollar or two of fittings.
A look from the top of the purge solenoid used to clear the nitrous line before use.
Here is another shot of the regulators. The one on the left is used for the nitrous, and the larger one on the right is supplying fuel to both sides of the 750 Holley carburetor.
Here is a shot of the Y block mounted under the passenger frame rail. This Y blocks allows me to supply fuel to both regulators quite easily.
