Well with things finally starting to come
together, although the heads are still missing in action,
I have decided to get to work on prepping the car for
a paint job. We chose to stick with the "canary"
yellow paint scheme for now.
We will be priming the car in the next
couple of weeks with a 3M grey primer. Sanding will be
done in a few stages, starting off with some rough grit
and finishing with some 400-600 wet/dry 3M sheets. Hopefully
this will be more than smooth enough for the primer to
stick to. Any input or advice here would be appreciated,
I am going on recommendations of a few friends regarding
the processes mentioned above!
We will be using a base coat clear coat
paint from FinishMaster here in town. Hoping to add up
to 5 clear coats on top of the paint. Will have to wait
and see what happens with that.
As for other exterior modifications, we
will be adding a wing similar to the "Grey Ghost"
project. Although the functionality at hand is in question,
the aesthetics more than makes up for it!
A fiberglass rear decklid is being hunted
as we speak, but the budget at this point is super tight,
so we might have to opt for a more cost effective means
of lightening up the rear deck area!
I will be posting pictures this weekend,
we hare having to split time between the yellow project
and getting the supercharger in the grey car!
UPDATE 1/19/2004:
The chassis was sold to a friend just south
of Gainesville. He should have it ready for the 2004 race
season, for those of you that frequent Gainesville, look
for the grey primered notchback, and ask to take a look
at the motor, you will definately be surprised at Rob's
work!
